Railway Asset Maintenance Workshop – Driving Reliability, Efficiency and Sustainability
Thursday, June 25 | 13:00–16:00
This industry-focused workshop, led by Prof.
Uday Kumar (EFNMS Railway Maintenance Committee), brings together key
stakeholders from the railway sector to explore modern approaches to asset
maintenance under increasing operational and environmental challenges.
Railway systems are under growing pressure to
improve reliability, availability, and cost efficiency while managing aging
infrastructure, increasing traffic demand, and climate-related impacts. At the
same time, digital technologies are enabling new opportunities for smarter,
data-driven maintenance.
This workshop provides a practical platform for
operators, infrastructure managers, service providers, and technology experts
to exchange experiences and solutions.
Key topics include:
Railway
asset reliability and availability challenges in modern operations
Condition
monitoring and data-driven maintenance strategies
Digital
twins, AI, and Industrial IoT applications in railway systems
Integration
of legacy systems and data quality challenges
Lifecycle
cost optimization and decision-making under uncertainty
Case
studies from European and Nordic railway systems (e.g. Trafikverket,
Talgo)
The session will combine short industry
presentations, panel discussions, and open dialogue, focusing on real-world
implementation and collaboration opportunities.
This workshop is ideal for professionals
involved in railway operations, infrastructure, maintenance, and digital
transformation seeking practical insights and industry best practices.
